FAQs
Below are some of the most common questions individuals have when beginning to seek therapy. Please note this list is by no means exhaustive, and if you have questions not answered below, please contact the office and we’ll be glad to help you out!
General Insurance Info
What insurances do you accept?
Please note that not all clinicians take each insurance (Some do not take Aetna and United Commercial.) Please verify in the specific clinician’s bio what insurance they take. But as an agency, we are paneled with the following plans:
- Aetna
- All Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans except BCBS “Community” plan (which is the private/exchange plan)
- Cigna
- Molina
- All Medicaid/Centennial Plans (Including Presbyterian, BCBS, United, and Molina)
- Presbyterian/Magellan (including Centennial/Medicaid)
- United
What insurances do you not accept?
Some clinicians do not take Aetna and/or United Commercial
- AmBetter
- BCBC Community Plan (the private/marketplace plan)
- Medicare
- Tricare/Triwest
- WellCare
What can I do if you don’t take my insurance, I don’t have insurance, or I don’t want to use my insurance?
- If we do not take your insurance, you can contact the customer services number on the back of your card to see if you have “Out of Network Benefits.” This is a benefit many plans have where you pay the session fee in full, ($125) receive a receipt from us, and are reimbursed in part or in full by your insurance company. Call us and we can explain further.
- All clients are welcome to pay out of pocket for therapy. Sessions are $125, but some of our therapists have a sliding scale. Please contact them directly for further information regarding their sliding scale fees.
Our general office hours are Monday-Friday 9:00-6:00 with some later evening and weekend appointments available. Please note we are not an “urgent care” agency and are unable to schedule anything other than routing counseling intakes. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Hospital.
Payment information
What is my co-pay?
- Check the front of the card for stated co-pay (under specialist)
- Call the customer services number on the back of the card and ask for “behavioral health co-pay.”
- Call our office, and we can check on the insurance portal if we have your full name, date of birth and insurance information.
Do I have a deductible?
Some plans require you to pay a pre-determined amount out of pocket for all sessions. This amount varies and can be anywhere from $250 to several thousand dollars. It is important to check if you have a deductible, as you will be required to pay for the sessions in full until it is met.
Private Pay
All our therapists accept private pay for client who do not have or do not wish to use their insurance. Standard hourly fees are $125.
Paying for services
All clients are asked to keep a credit card on file in a secured electronic location for payment processing.
General Therapy Information
How do I choose a therapist?
On the “Meet the Team” tab, all therapists have a bio with the age ranges they treat, hours they work, if they are telehealth or in person, areas of expertise and what modalities they use. If their initial bio seems to align with your needs, you can expand their tab to read more about them, including how to contact them.
How to I set up an initial session?
All scheduling, including the initial session, is done directly with your therapist. Once you reach out to them via phone or email, they will get you scheduled for an intake and send you access to our electronic portal to complete paperwork. If you are having a telehealth session, they will also send you the access link.
How long is a therapy session, and how often will I go?
- Therapy sessions typically last a “52-minute hour,” but we sometimes go over or under, depending on the natural pauses and progressions that occur in conversation.
- Because we want to spend time “moving forward” rather than just talking about the past few weeks, therapy most often occurs weekly. As you begin to improve, you and your therapist can talk about meeting every other week, monthly or as needed. Occasionally, clients come in twice a week, though this is rare.
What if I miss a scheduled session?
Your therapy appointment is like a theater ticket; your time is held specifically for you. We understand “life” happens, and your therapist will do their best to work with you, however, if you cancel less than 24 hours or no-show to your appointment, your credit card on file will be charged $50.
Does your agency prescribe medication?
We do not have a medication prescriber at the agency; however, we partner with several clinics who do offer medication management.
Am I required to have a diagnosis?
To be reimbursed by your insurance company, we are required to assign you a mental health diagnosis. Please speak with your therapist if you have concerns regarding this.
How does online therapy work? Is it confidential and what equipment will I need?
All our clinicians offer telehealth (computer) and telephone sessions as convenient options for therapy. For telehealth sessions, your therapist will send you a link to access via computer or telephone and this site is completely confidential and HIPAA compliant on our side. Please be mindful of confidentiality concerns on your end.
